descending infinite regress in yemeni philosophy

چکیده
infinite regress is among the most important philosophical issues which is imaginable in three forms: ascending, descending, and a combination of the two. philosophers have considered the invalidity of infinite regress as based on two conditions: successive order of regression individuals to each other and the potential conjunction of all individuals in existence. mīrdāmād believes that the condition for the potential conjunction of individuals does not include descent; thus, this regress is impossible in this respect. in contrast, muḥaqqiq sabzevārī and ‘allāma ṭabāṭabā’ī, each in some way reject this allegation. it is indicated in this article that what mīrdāmād means is non-transmutation in terms of atemporal existence and the objections raised are incorrect.

Multiple Head Comparison and Infinite Regress
The truth conditions of (1) are expressed by (1'). The operation of comparison is triggered by the elements more, fewer, less, as and -er. One of these elements always has to be present in the part of the comparative preceding than or as. Therefore, I will refer to these elements as `comparative operators'. Comparative operators usually immediately precede the element of which the degree or qua...
متن کاملHow to Do Things with an Infinite Regress
Scientific method may be viewed either as an argument justifying a conclusion or as a procedure for finding the right answer to some question. Both conceptions occasion the problem of empirical regresses. According to the former approach, it is hard to say what the point of a regress is. According to the latter, we can solve for the strongest sense of singlemethod performance that could be cove...
متن کاملInfinite Regress : The Blurring of an Architectural Game - Space
Architecture and gaming have always been unconnected. Architecture uses a vast array of tools as a means to an end, to show information. The computer gaming industry however, creates virtual worlds for its experiential potential. While this disjunction is explicit I believe that the gaming industry presents architecture with a medium from which to expand its expression. I explore the redundant ...
متن کاملInfinite Descending Chains of Cocompact Lattices in Kac-moody Groups
Let A be a symmetrizable affine or hyperbolic generalized Cartan matrix. Let G be a locally compact Kac-Moody group associated to A over a finite field Fq. We suppose that G has type ∞, that is, the Weyl group W of G is a free product of Z/2Z’s. This includes all locally compact Kac-Moody groups of rank 2 and three possible locally compact rank 3 Kac-Moody groups of noncompact hyperbolic type. ...
متن کاملInterprocedural Dataflow Analysis over Weight Domains with Infinite Descending Chains
We study generalized fixed-point equations over idempotent semirings and provide an efficient algorithm for the detection whether a sequence of Kleene’s iterations stabilizes after a finite number of steps. Previously known approaches considered only bounded semirings where there are no infinite descending chains. The main novelty of our work is that we deal with semirings without the boundedne...
متن کاملEpistemic and Dialectical Regress
Dialectical egalitarianism holds that every asserted proposition requires defence when challenged by an interlocutor. This view apparently generates a vicious “regress of justifications,” since an interlocutor can challenge the premises through which a speaker defends her original assertion, and so on ad infinitum. To halt the regress, dialectical foundationalists such as Adler, Brandom, Leite,...
